A small landlocked country bordering Rwanda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Located in the heart of East Africa, Burundi is a small landlocked country bordering Rwanda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Despite its cultural richness and the warmth of its people, it continues to face significant social and economic challenges.
Kirundi and French are the main languages spoken in Burundi. Most of the population lives in rural areas and depends on agriculture as its main means of livelihood. Economic hardship and limited access to certain basic services have especially affected many vulnerable communities.
Recently, a brother from Spain traveled to Burundi to help build homes for vulnerable families. His purpose was not only to contribute materials and labor, but also to accompany and serve those who need it most.
In his luggage he carried copies of Steps to Christ in French, provided by the Window for Christ ministry, to share a message of hope. Even while waiting for his flight at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport, he took the opportunity to hand out some copies.
This experience reminds us that mission can be carried out anywhere: at an airport, in a rural community or on a construction site. Wherever there is a need, there is also an opportunity to serve and reflect the love of Christ.
“My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth” (1 John 3:18).
Let us pray that God will bless the mission in Burundi and help us bring Christ, in deeds and in words, wherever we are.
