Christian literature reaches mainland China despite restrictions
Shenzhen and Dongguan, China
In a country of more than 1.4 billion people with strict regulations on the spread of religious material, some copies of Christian literature have recently been placed in hotel libraries and other public spaces, allowing local people to have access to these texts. The action, carried out voluntarily by individuals, shows the commitment and faith of those who believe in the importance of sharing the message they carry.
Although the distribution of this kind of literature is limited by law and those who take part could face penalties such as fines or detention, those who distribute the books trust in God and in the fact that the Word of God is living and powerful and will bear fruit wherever it arrives (Hebrews 4:12), even in a country as large and complex as China.
The copies were placed in different public spaces, from hotel libraries to waiting areas open to the public, so that anyone would have the chance to reach them. Some of the books were handed over in person and received with joy, which reflects the work of the Holy Spirit preparing hearts and minds to receive the message God has prepared.
Even when resources are limited and the difficulties are great, perseverance and faith allow the word of God to reach unexpected places. Every book placed represents an effort entrusted to the power of God, offering hope to those who receive it, and shows that even small gestures can have a significant impact in such a populous and challenging country.
