From Paul to our days: the message of Christ travels across Cyprus again
Cyprus — Almost 3,000 copies of Steps to Christ, in Greek and Turkish, have arrived in Cyprus to be shared by the brothers and sisters of the Adventist Church.
This shipment has a special meaning, recalling that almost two thousand years ago Paul and Barnabas arrived in Cyprus proclaiming the Word of God. They traveled across the island as far as Paphos, where the proconsul Sergius Paulus heard the message and believed. Barnabas, moreover, was a native of Cyprus.
Today, many centuries later, the message of Christ keeps traveling across the island through a silent preacher.
The books in Greek make it possible to reach the local population, while the copies in Turkish open an especially significant door to the Turkish Cypriot community and to people connected with Turkey. Northern Cyprus is part of the territory of the Adventist Church in the Middle East and North Africa and presents a predominantly Muslim context.
Before being placed in people's hands, these books were placed in God's hands through prayer. Then they passed into the hands of church members, and from there they will continue their way to those who will receive them.
From hand to hand, we trust that God will direct each book to the heart that needs to find it. In Greek or in Turkish, we keep reaching lives.
